... Hinsdale Center for the Arts         ... The Hinsdale Center for the Arts, winner of the prestigious 1999 Governor's Award for the Arts, is a not-for-profit regional arts center and local arts agency serving the west suburban Chicagoland region with a wide range of high quality visual arts and performing arts programs year-round. The HCA provides art exhibitions, classes in music, art, dance, theater, and literary arts, individual music lessons, workshops, festivals, summer multi-arts camp for children, outreach programs, and technical assistance to arts organizations and artists. The HCA's Community Arts Access Regranting Program, funded by the Illinois Arts Council and the HCA, supports arts programs in schools and organizations throughout the western Cook and DuPage County region. Two annual highlights of the HCA programs include the "Adornments" Exhibition and Sale in November and December, featuring the work of over 100 artists, and the Hinsdale "Fine Arts Festival" in June that the HCA co-sponsors with the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce.         The HCA was founded in 1980 and was designated in 1996 by the Illinois Arts Council as an "Established Regional Arts Institution", one of only two arts organizations in Chicago's western suburbs to receive this honor, and one of only forty-four arts organizations state-wide to be designated. Last year, through its on-site and outreach programs, the HCA serviced more that 100,000 people of all ages and abilities from over 54 communities in the western suburbs and Chicago metro area, plus neighboring regions and states. The HCA is supported by contributions from corporations and individuals, grants from foundations and the Illinois Arts Council, earned revenues from classes and operations, and proceeds from annual fundraising events. Members of the HCA, which currently number over 900, receive discounts on classes, a newsletter, arts calendar, invitations to exhibition openings, special events, and benefits such as the popular "Dinner a l'Art."
