The Ben Fuller House is a recent addition to the Historic Gateway area located on York Road between the villages of Hinsdale and Oakbrook. This circa 1840 farmhouse is across York Road and down Salt Creek from the Old Graue Mill. The house is important historically as an early example of balloon construction and as the home of Ben Fuller, one of our earliest settlers. |

The Ben Fuller Museum Association is in the process of restoring this building as a house museum. Since acquiring the structure, the Association has built a foundation, relocated the house and gutted the inside of all modern changes. It has completed a historic research and restoration study with noted preservation architect Wilbert Hasbrouck, FAIA. This study will be the guide as detailed restoration drawings and material specifications are prepared. Recent restoration activities include a new roof, gutters, front porch, doors, windows and shutters. Interior restoration will begin soon. |

The Association anticipates that the Ben Fuller House will ultimately occupy a
significant position as an educational and historical asset to the Villages of Hinsdale
and Oak Brook.
